Design Diaries

The main design challenge for the primary bedroom in this Queen Anne-style home built in 1886 was incorporating our clients’ extensive art collection. We opted for a more understated approach to the walls, allowing the art to be the focal point. Picture rails were installed as both a nod to the home's history and a practical solution to protect the delicate horsehair plaster, while providing the flexibility to easily rearrange the art.

The design is rich in deep colors, warm woods, and luxurious textures that invite touch, from the velvet headboard to the plush rug underfoot. Thoughtfully selected pillows tie together the color palette from the draperies, reupholstered antique chairs, and walls, creating a cohesive yet visually engaging space.

This bedroom honors the history of the home while transforming it into a luxurious, livable space that feels both timeless and fresh.
