They wanted exciting and energetic, not your typical blue-and-white beach scheme,” Robin Gannon says of her clients, two young families who share a Nantucket home. They asked Gannon for decor that announces “this will be a fun weekend” when they walk in the door. That verve came from the window-treatment fabric — Peter Dunham Textiles’ Fig Leaf — supplemented by all sorts of other patterns. The unexpected mix accomplishes another goal: tempering the new build’s modern farmhouse bones. “Adopting elements in different styles helps an interior feel timeless,” says the designer, founder of Robin Gannon Interiors. “Life is a multitude of layers; that’s what your home should reflect.”
